What disdex is

disdex.io is an index of public Discord servers. It is reachable as a website, a JSON API, a Discord bot, and an MCP server for AI assistants.

Public Discord data we index

  • We check public Discord invite links, found on the web or submitted by users, through Discord's public invite endpoint. That returns what Discord shows anyone who opens the invite: the server's name, description, icon, banner, member and online counts, guild tag and features, and the public profile (username, display name, avatar) of the account that created the invite.
  • We keep that information, and how it changes over time, to show server pages, growth history and search results.
  • Server owners and admins can hide their server from disdex on their account page after signing in with Discord.
  • Anyone shown as an invite's creator can remove their own profile: sign in with that Discord account and use “your profile on disdex” on the account page, or, without signing in, verify on disdex.io/remove (Discord shares only your username and avatar). That deletes the profile's name and avatar history and its link to invites, takes its page and API record down, and stops disdex from indexing it again.
  • To ask us to remove other information about you, email hello@disdex.io.

If you sign in

  • Signing in uses Discord OAuth with the scopes identify, guilds, guilds.join and applications.commands. We store your Discord id and public profile, the OAuth tokens Discord issues, and a session cookie that keeps you signed in.
  • We use those to show your account page, let you manage servers you own or administer, add you to the official disdex Discord server, and make disdex's slash commands available on your account.
  • API keys are stored only as a one-way hash.
  • Payments for ads and credits are made in cryptocurrency to addresses we generate per invoice. We record the invoice and the transaction we observe on the public blockchain; we never receive card or bank details.

AI assistants (MCP server) and the API

  • The MCP server and the API need no account and set no cookies.
  • We receive the request itself (search words, server ids or invite codes) and use it only to answer. We don't build profiles of people who use the MCP server or the API, and we don't receive your conversation with the assistant beyond what it sends in a tool call.
  • The MCP server returns only server information: no NSFW servers and no individual user profiles.
  • What the AI assistant does with the results is governed by that assistant's own privacy policy (for example Anthropic's or OpenAI's).

Logs, sharing and retention

  • Our servers keep short-lived operational logs (request time, path and status, and for rate limiting the client IP address) to run and protect the service.
  • We don't sell personal information and don't share it with third parties except the infrastructure providers that host disdex, or when required by law.
  • We use no third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
  • To count daily visitors, your browser keeps the date of your last visit in local storage. Each page sends us its address, the names of the search filters it uses (never what you typed or picked), the website that linked to it if you came from outside disdex, and whether it is your first page today. With the first page of the day it also sends whether you seem to be on a phone, tablet or computer.
  • We turn that into daily totals (for example, how many page views came from Google, or used the badge filter) and discard the rest: we keep no list of visits, linking addresses, IP address, cookie or identifier. We also count how often actions such as picture searches, server submissions and sign-ins happen. The totals are public on the stats page.
  • Account data is kept while your account exists; email us to have it deleted. Public server data is kept while the server remains public and not hidden by its owner.
